LAKE PARADISE : PIGEON ISLAND.
A LAKE WIIHIN LAKE. In an island Jtill ia a silver lake
Lies a lake like some- heavenly pool, Reflecting shadows of trees that shake And gleam like a lustrous jewel. Fair as the scenes of Fairyland,
Seen in a dreamer's dreams ; Masterpiece of the Master Hand
That made the hills and streams.
A halo of peace encircles the bill Like a mantle of mercy and love ; Mirrored rays of the sun seem a golden ril Running from heaven above. The glory of God sinks into the mind, The heart fill* and to rise Ia gratitude for gifts given mankind — Gifts like Lake Paradise. — Auld Reekie. Dunedin, July, 1906.
