A NEW PUNCTURE CURE.

About 100 motorists and cyclists gathered at the Tarrant Motor Company's garage (Melbourne) on the 20th ult. to witness a demonstration of the virtues of a new puncture sealing compound, to be known <as "Miraculum." The .compound is an invention of a Melbourne chemist -and a cyclist, and is distributed in liquid- form in tins. It is injected into the inner tube of the tyre, and remains in liquid form during travelling. It is claimed, and was proved by practical demonstration, that upon a nail or other puncturer introducing itself into the tyre the liquid forms a coa" round the puncture, and prevents any escape of air. Mr C. C. Salmon, M.P., explained that the present holders of the patent rights for the world — a small Melbourne company — had been experimentinjr with the compound for 12 months, and bad now every confidence in it. A motor car tyre was first operated upon. It had been run in Mr J. P. Wallace's oar in a nonstop run to Bellarat in August, 1905, and during the journey a 3-inch nail was picked up. The tyre was placed in Mr A. E. Langford's car and run to Mornington, where two 4-inch nails were driven in. The tyre remained firmly inflated, And was safely run back to the oity. On this occasion some more nails were driven in and withdrawn, and it was found that thf punctures were immediately sealed. Th« car was driven up and down Russell street to the interest of the spectators who lined the footway. A number of bicycle tyres were similarly treated, and found to remain perfectly firm. Mr A. E. Langford has obtained from the proprietary company an option to acquire the patent rights for th« purpose of exploiting the leading markets of the world. It is claimed that the compound does not in any way injure rubber, and does not lift patches or affect the resilency of tyres.
