The annual meeting of St. Andrews Saleyards'Company was held on the 11th inst. There vras a large gathering of shareholder?, and the meeting was presfded oveiby Mr D. Stowell, chairman of directors. The diractors report, which recommended a payment of a 10 pw cent, dividend, was unanir/Kmsly adopted. Two of the auctioneers present expressed the opinion that St Andrews saloyards wore the best conducted yards in the South Canterbury district. Messrs D. Stowell and J. Hall, the retiring directors, and Mr Thos. Kinross, auditor, were re-elected withoiit opposition. Messrs Maweon Bros., the well-known English Leicester breeders, came through from Gore on Fridaj last with a special train of 46 double-decked trucks of lambs aaid two and four-tootj' wethers, which they had purchiscd in the Eiversdale district. The train arrived at Ashburton at 4-.30 p.m., nnd then proceeded to Methven, where the sheep will be detrained and driver to the Stormlea Estate. They were a particularly fine line of English and Border Leicester crosses. Messrs Mawson Brcfe. have another line of 2700 coming through next week.
