Town v. Country. — For the benefit of playjrs who may desire practice before' the- Town v. Country match, the Otago Club, extends t, hearty invitation to alj' to .attend the' club' on Saturday evenings, where members' will be pleased to accommodate them. Sawyers' Bay. — Ih Sawyers' Bay Club has made a start for the current season, and everything promises well foi a successful career. The club has again secured the services of Mr Davidson as president, and as his old-time enthusiasm shows no sign of waning, he will be a, potent factor in the success of the club. Added to this, the club has fortunately retained Mr Pithie in the post ofsecretary, and bis zeal admirably qualifies 'him to run in double harness with the president. Still another rosy tint is added to the prospects of the club in the fact that a few of the top-notchers iv the Port Chalmers ranks have thrown in their lot with Sawyers' Bay. Thia is good for the Bay team; we hope it may not' mean si corresponding decrease of interest in the Port district. We believe w know the Port players concerned well enough to predict that it will not. A handicap tournament i» already on the tapis at SawyersBay.
