The regu'-ar monthly meeting of the School Commissioners of Otago was held yesterday. ■Present — Mr W. 'Dallas (chairman), the Hon. H. Feldwick, and T. Mac Gibbon. Apologies for non-attendance were leceived from Mr J. Hay ond Mr D. Borrie.

Confirmation of special resolution passed at meeting of April 17. agreeing to reduce G. Roger's rent of section 20. block XV, Riverton, from. 10s to 5s. — Resolution confirmed.

Report from ranger on application fro.n Jas. Wilson for assistance towards protection from river (section 19, block 111, Wendonsidsi ; also from W. Mortimer, lessee of -section 1, bock V, Wendonsid-e. — Ranger's report adopted, ar.d Messrs Mac Gibbon and Hay to inspect the two sections.

Application from J. Milne for return of Wm. Kv'.e's deposit of coal pit rent and purvey deposit, with report from ranger. — Granted.

Applications were received for the Tight to dredge on land belonging to the School Commissioners opposite run 254b, Wendon. A report was received from the ranger. — Resolved to employ a sxirveyor to survey the land be'.onging to the commissioners on the west side of the Waikaia River, and on completion of the survey, tenders to be invited for the dredging rights over the area mentioned, owner of the adjoining land to be notified of intention to survey, ?nd to be informed he will be expected to be»r his share of cost of the survey.

On the motion of Mr Mac Gibbon, seconded by the Hon. Mr Feldwick, it was resolved — " That the attention of the Commissioner of Crown Lands be called to the fact that sections in the Steward Settlement have been sub-let by the Waste Lands Board without previously obtaining the consent of the SchooL Commissioners, as required by law. The spctions referred to are— 2 of 32, 2 of 33, 31 and 35, block VI. ..
