NORTH OTAGO
The North Otago A. and P. Association las received notice that the Land Purchase Board has lodged a caveat against the transfer to it of the site bought from Mr Hedley for the purposes of a show (round. The board was negotiating with Mr Hedley for the land for workmen's homes previous to the purchase by Messrs O. W. Reid and W. Gardiner, jun. A but a difference had arisen, and before this was. adjusted Mr Hedley rold to the association through the gentlemen named. Every effort is now being made to induce the Land Purchase Board to withdraw the caveat, there being a general feeling that thi» land 13 not required for workmen's iinmes, and that the wishes of a large and important section of the community should fee conceded. Tlie result of the representations is not yet known, but Messrs W. Gardiner, jun., and W. Milne went to Chri6tenurch to ccc the Premier there today.
