Notes from Cromwell. (From Our Own Correspondent.) CROMWELL, April 20.

| A warm rain set in at the Lakes last night, ' and it has been raining here to-day. The river is rising, and it will probably be up for a few dsys, but will soon fall again, as the hills are clear of snow. j The Electric Company's ground is improving slightly now, and the dredges should soon be doing better. The New Cromwell dredge should be on the claim and started next week, as the rise in the I river will permit her passing the sunken Junction dredge. ! The Alpine Consols dredge is on much better wash this week. The ground is patchy, j but the claim is a good one. The rise in the rivfr will stop the dredge for a few days. I The Hartley and Riley ground is improving ! and the dredge will likely get something good j ahead.
