RIVER PLATE SHIPMENTS. WELLINGTON, April 19.

The Department of Induatries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated Londou, April 18 — " Shipments from the River Plate during the month of March, 1906, were: — Mutton: London, 85 062; Liverpool. 90,492; Hull, 9354; Newcastle, 6600; Southampton, 1510; Plymouth, 1505;— total, 194,323 carcases. Lamb London, 10,514; Liverpool, 6743; Hull, 1000; Newcastle, 1000, Southampton, 301; — total, 19.558 carca&es. Butter. Liverpool and Southampton, 9570cwt." EXPORT OF BUTTER AND CHEESE. NEW PLYMOUTH-, April 21. Whilst ihe amount of butter exported from New Plymouth for the year ending March 31 showed an increase on the previous year, there was a slight decreaae in the quantity of factory butter. The total boxes graded was 171,566 boxes, of which there were shipped to the United Kingdom 150,815 boxes of factory, 9031 boxes of separator, and 388 milled, the remainder being shipped to AustTafia, Suva, South Africa, stored ai the end of the year awaiting shipment. The total value of the graded averaged at lOJd is approximately £405,316. The grading average was very high, only 1.82 per cent, of factory not being first grade. I cent, milled was under first grsde. Cheese shows a great increase, 9212 cases being shipped, of the value of abour £30.000, compared with 5701 cases in ihe previous year. Including Patea it is anticipated the total export of butter and cheese from Taranaki, valued about £750,000.
