THE NORTH OTAGO MEETING.

The present season is waning fast, and with the autumn meetings over, the beginning of the end may be said to have commenced. Consequently those owners who are desirous of making a final effort to store up winter oats for their stables would do well to study the attractive programme issued by the North Otago Jockay Club for their final meeting of the season. The progressive body of the White City has endowed the Oamaru Cup wirh a prize of 200sovs, and the distance ha^ been set to be over the popular journey of one mile, whilst an additional furlong is tacked on to the principal race of the second day, when 150sovs will be hung up. The sprinters have also b?en vvell catered for, and the Tokaraki Handicap, of five furlongs, is endowed with llOsoys";" whilst tho Otekaike Handicap, which is run otcr a similar distance, has a stake of lOOsovs to be raced for. Other events are — The Waiarcka Hack Handicap, of 60ovs (six furlongs); Trial Plate, of 40-scvs (four furlongs) ; Clifton Welter, of SOscvs (seven furlongs) ; Parkside Welter, of 60sovs (six furlongs) ; The Shorts, of 40sovs (five furlongs, for two-year-dlds and upwards) ; Redcastle Welter, of 70sovs (six furlongs). The trotting events are also well endowed, and the four on the card carry prizes of 60sovs, 50sovs, 50sovs, and 35sovs respectively. Nominations are due on Thursday, May 4, and handicaps are due about May 14.
