SYDNEY, April 23. Cables have been received from the friends of a number of prominent Australians who are in San Francisco stating they are all well. j Many pulpit references were made to > the disaster yesterday. A cable has been received from M<.s«rs Spreckels Bro«. stating that the iSoi-oma, which was to have left San Franci&co 1 'st Thursday, will miss one trip, and advising the agents to take passengers and cargo by the Sierra, which leaves Sydney on Monday next as usual. They add that the railway connection from San Francisco is intact. The Mayors of Adelaide and Brisbane have received replies from President Roosevelt thanking them for their messages of ! sympathy. j " * MELBOURNE, April 23. Tlie speakers, at the eight-hour day banquet made sympathetic references to the disaster, and said that if assistance were required the Eight Sours Committee and workers would do their share. AJiss Tittell Brune is advised that her property at San Francisco, valued at £2000, was totally destroyed.
