EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

The total for the forty-seventh week of the New Zealand .eggJaying competition was 1271, tnakinff the grand aggregate 83,014-, and the -weekly average per pen 12.71. The highest laying for the week w*re: — Alexandra Poultry Company's white Rocks, 27; Ashworth's silver Wyandottes (Christchurcb), 26; Love's silver Wyandottes (Christchurch), .24; Mrs Edwards's "white Rocka (Blenheim), 24. The order of the aggregate mow runs as follow, the first -five pens consisting of white Leghorns : — H. Leger, Levin, 1320; Brooks, of South Axie- | traha, 1162; Marlborougih A. and P. Asso- [ ciation, 1158; Jonathan Hodeon, of Blenheim, 1157; Mick Shaw, of Blenheim, 114*6; Hockey's brown Leghorns (Nelson), 1116. The number of competitors now above 1000 is 16. Brooks has regained second place from tihe Maryborough A. and P. Association. On Wednesday lett Brooks, the association, and Hodson were on the same mark, each being 1152. The statement for the forty-seventh week of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Clubs e£g-layin«r competition at Lincoln * College shows that 318 egg-s were laid during the week — an average of 8.3 per pen, making a total to date of 29.318 — an average of 771.4 per pen.
