Note s from Reefton. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

REEFION, November 2.

The Big River Company's mine manager reports for the week: " The No. 8 stopes are looking well. The reef is 32ft long, and averages 2ft wide, and in one place it is sft ■wide. There is also some stone benching into the footwall. From appearances the reef is lengthening arid widening as stoping up proceeds. . The. quality of the stone is very good, and is still carrying water. In the intermediate stopes the top stope has been lengthened! to 26ft from the pass in a? northwest direction. The reef is broken and irregular. Fifty tons of stone were raised for the°week. The battery is running three shifts, and -the monthly clean-up takes place on Saturday.

November 4.

The Alraine Company's mine manager reports:—We have driven sft north on sft of store in the hanging wall of the rise between Nos. 10 and 7 levels. So far it is of poor quality. We have driven 10ft on a goldbearing leader in No. iO level east. l"h« track is hard, and! we had to drill. Over No. 7 level we have driven 13ft for the week, making the total distance 48ft. The track is still good, with a little stone m it.
