MANDEVILLE.

November 4. — The weather foi .a considerable time has been veiy changeable, and the land is kept far too cold for much growth. Farmers who are rather heavily stocked find a difficulty in securing outside feed, and are eagerly looking forward for a spell of warmer weather.

Religious) Teaching. — Some years ago segular services were held in the school by the Riversdale Presbyterian minister, but fo? some unknown reason these were discontinued, and for a long time adherents of that Church had either to go to Otama or Riversdale, A few weeks ago, however, a meetirig was held, and a strong committee formed to see if it is not possible to get a minister to come as formerly. They were successful in inducing the Otama minister to undertake to come once a month. They have also been supplied with sufficient money to purchase an organ. The first service was held on the 15th of last month, and the gathering was very large.

Political. — Mr Fraser, the silting member, addressed the Mandeville electors in the hall on Thursday last. The attendance was very large, every seat being occupied. He spoka about an hour, dealing principally wilh the work of the past session, and was attentively listened fo. It was plainly evident that Mr Fraser's administrative abilities, his untiring zeal, and his honourable example are fully appreciated.

Ball. — The trappers-, gave th?ir ball on Friday night, and the weather being perfect the attendance was large. The music, supplied by Messrs Green and Taylor, was all that could be desired. Messrs Ross. Hargest, and Horrell. filled the duties of M.C.'s, and kept things going until 4 a.m.. when everyone went home, fully convinced that no better dance had ever been held in the township.
