THE TUAPEKA CONTEST.
Mr Gilkison spoke at Tuapeka Mouth on Thursday ni<rht. The stormy weather kept many at home, but notwithstanding tho elements some 30 enthusiasts turned out to the meeting. Mr Drain was appointed chairman, and introduced the candidate. Mr. Gilkison enlarged on the land question, pointing out how Ihe Government had failed in its responsibilities to deal satisfactorily with the matter. A motion of "thanks to the candidate was carried unanimously.
At " Waitaimna West Mr Gilkison addressed a small meeting of electors on. Friday night, and again devoted special attention to the land question. Mr W. Smith was in the chair. After a few questions had been replied to, a. vote of thanks was proposed and carried unanimously.
