EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS.
BLENHEIM, August 26. During the seventeenth week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition 2623 eggs were laid by the 100 pens of six fowls each. This increases the grand aggregate to 23,046 and tlie weekly average to 26.23 eggs per pen. Ashworth's Silver Wyandottes (from ; Alexandra South) laid 39/ the highest weekly number yet recorded. The order of merit for the first three places is unchanged, fche- figures being : — Leger's White j Leghorns, 466 ; Crook's White Leghorns, ' 433 ; Draper's Buff Leghorns, 656 ; Hawke's I Silver W j a-ndottes, only iv,o behind the third pen. CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. The statement for the seventeenth week of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's Egg-laying Competition at Lincoln College shows that the number of eggs laid dunug the week was 827, making the total to date 7750. The average per pen for the wedk was 21.8, compared, with. 22^2 the
