The match for the Charity Banner fina was played at Carisbrook on Saturday after noon between the Wakari and Kaitangat. teams. There was a fair jattendaince o spectators — some 300 or 400, — Kaitangat; being very w-ell represented. The groun< was ia splendid order, and a good gam

expected, and in this tin spectators wor' not disappointed. The Wakari, winning the toss, decided to play v/itli the sun behint them in the first spell. Play was afc onw taken to the Kaitangata quarters, where Greenslade shot, Pilling saving. Eamsaj dribbled well up the field, but a good chance was thrown awaj r . From a goalkick Ussher obtained control, and passed <c Morrison, who shot high. Good work by Robertson shifted play to the Wakari goal, but Greenslade saved with a long kick, and the sun being rather strong Allan fouled. Gilroy took the kick, but nothing resulted. .Almost immediately afterwards J. M'Millan had a good chance, but failed to take the opportunity. Robertson centred well, but M'Nish returned with a high kick, and Armit lost a chance' by heading over th-o bar. A g°°cl low shot by Taylor i\a? well put out by Litollf. From a high kick tho Wakari forwards charged well down on ths Kaitangata barks, and from a scramble Clyde shot, and scored for Wakari. Both teams now livened up to their work, and play was fast an<3 exciting;. Kaitangar/i pressed hard and Taylor shot, but Litolff was equal to thf* occasion, play being shifted. H. Morrison dribbled well down the field and then centred, giving U«sher a ohance, of which good vise was made — a goal being scored. , Kaitangata then pressed hard, but the defence of Farquharson and M'Nish was too sound and when half -t' me was called Wakari were 2 goals to the good. 11l the second spell Ussher took play up the field with a good run, but Allan intervened. Armit, however, obtained possession and shot, but Brown saved. Robertson, with a good dribble, shifted play, but D. iTifillan beat him for , ths ball, and transferring' up the field, jth® 1 Wakari were conceded a corner. Middlemass, however, shifted play, but Farquharson returned. At this stage some play was put in by Hill and Oliver, and a long 1 pass to Ramsay resulted in the latter shooting wide. Kaitangata again pressed, and Ramsay again lost a good chance. A free kick was given against Kaitangata, and Taylor cornered. Hill cleared, and' passed to Oliver, play being shifted; but Hill shot wide. Slome good head play was then put in, and Greenslade kicked high, but Brown cleared. Oliver broke away, but nothing resulted. Ussher, who was playing a great game, broke away, and, dribbling past the backs, shot a beauty, but Pilling was equal to the occasion. G. Middlemass was putting in some splendid and unselfish play, passing the ball well to his forwards time and again; but Litolff and the Wakari backs played well on defence. Tim© and again Robertson broke away, and in the end he was rewarded by scaring a fine goal, boating Litolff easily. From this on the play was very exciting, and the Kaitangata were making great efforts to score. Ths visitors pressed time and again, but the ' attempt was made too late. Robertson j raa.de some great openings, and had he been backed up must have scored. From I a centre by Ramsay M'Nish saved, but . G. Middlemass again shot, and Finlay charged down and held Litolff, who threw ' the ball into his own goal, but the referee i ruled that Finlay held Litolff, and a free t kick was awarded to Wakari. Robertson , obtained possession, and broke away, and M'Nish gave a corner, from which nothing • resulted, and almost immediately afterwards the whistle blew for time, leaving the Wakari winners by 2 goals to 1, after a i magnifioenE display of football on both ! 1 sides. ! j For Wakari one can hardly single out ' any particular player for mention, but the display given by FarqUhavson. M'Nish (backs), the veteran D. M'Millan and Greenslade (half-backs), and Ussher, Morrison, and J. M'Millan was really fine. On ths Kaitangata side, Allan and the Middlemass brothers (backs), and Robertson, Hill, and Oliver were the pick, Robertson being the best forward on £he ground. The wise , change made in the Wakari forwards and half backs seemed to make a new team of them. This was especially noticeable in the case of D. M'Millan and H. Morrison, , who played right wing forward, and J. M'Millan, who played centre forward. Ussher played a brilliant game as inside ' left, but he was not backed up sufficiently ' by Armit. though the latter 1 put in some I 1 ■ strong work. Kaitangata did not play with, { 1 j their usual level-heaSedness. and only in ; j the last quarter of an hour did they show I I anything lik© their true form. The only ' forward on the Kaitangata side who seemed un to his usual standard was Robertson. Mr 0. Martin was fairly slow with the 1 whistle, nevertheless he was an impartial referee, i
