The- Liberal and Labour Federation lias selected Mr Clinkard as Ministerial candidate for Waitemata at the coming election. Mr Benjamin Bayncs is announced as an j Independent Liberal candidate for Avon, j Mr C. L. Russell is definitely announced as a candidate for Lyttelfcon, and Mr 0. M. j Gray for Ohristchurch North. Mr Alex. Marshall announces his candidature for the Taieri electorate in the Government interest at the general election. Mr C. E. Bellringer has definitely decided to contest the Taranaki seat at the general election. Mr T. B. Williams intends offering himself as a candidate for the Wanganui seat in the Liberal interests at the forthcoming general election. Mr John G. Taiaroa will contest the Southern Maori seat with Mr T. Pratt, M.H.R.. at the general election. _ Mr Taiaroa is a supporter of the Opposition. j A ballot for the selection of a Liberal candidate for Ma-nukau between Messrs R. D. Stewart and J. Parr resulted in the former being- chosen. At the. conclusion of the North-East Valley Council meeting on Monday evening sc-mo councillors and residents who were present made a request to the Mayor (Mr H. Duncan) to allow himself to be nominated for Dunodin North at the ensuing general election, but Mr Duncan positively refused to oppose Mr A. R. Barclay. A request was then made that he should allow himself to be nominated for Chalmers, and it is understood that Mr Duncan stated that he would consider the request and reply in , a, week's time. Mr C.
