EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

CHRISTOHURCH, August 21. The statement for the sixteenth week of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's I egg-laying competition at Lincoln College , shows that the total number of eggs laid i last week was B*4-, making- the total for 16 weeks 6911. The average per pen for last week was 22.2, compared with.^2o.4- tor the previous week. Tho following are those highest oa the list for the w«ek, the total given being fov 16 weeks:— Kawke, silver Wyandottes 34, total 438; Presants, silver Wyandottes, 28, total 144 ; Cowlishaw, black Orpingtons, 28, total 157; Tindall, • silver Wyandottes, 27, total 208 ; Evans, silver Wyandottes, 27, total 290 : Mrs Studj holme, Anconas. 27, total 273; Hacke, silver ! Wyandottes, 26, total 140; Leger, white Wyandottes, 26, total 116. The largest number of eggs laid on one day since the commencement of the competition was on the 16th inst., when the total of 126 was reC ° r 6 ' BLENHEIM, August 19 During the fifteenth week of the New .Zealand Egg-laying Competition 2524 eggs were laid. The grand aggregate- increased to 20,423, and the weekly average pen to 254; eggs. A record was established by the black Orpingtons of E. Traherne, of Christchurch, which returned 38 for the week. Tha silver Wyandottes of H. Hawke, Greytown, and the white Leghorns of C. Brown, Christchurch. laid 37 each. The order of merit in respect to grand affgreejate is unchanged, Mr Leger's total being 436, Mi* Brooks's 405. and Mr TJrat>er's 331.
