SALE OF A CLYDESDALE SIRE.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report: We have sold privately, on account of Mr Win. Hastie (Allanton), his handsome purebred Clydesdale colt Pride of the Taaeri, at a high figure, to Mr S. Foot (Nelson's Plains, Hunter River, New South Wales). This colt is a rising three-year-old, standing 16.3 hands, and is of great size and substance, with splendid bone and plenty of hair of the right sort. Sire Prophet Champiom, by Young Prophet (imp.) ; dam Florence, by Topsail (imp.) ; g-dam Maggie Clyde, by Crawford's Lord Clyde (imp.); g-g-dum by Cox's Pride of Scotland (imp.); g-g-g-dam Lovely, by Black Champion (imp.). Prophet Champion gained first prize at Nathalia in 1898, first at Numurkah same year, and first in the Sires Produce Stakes the same day, beating the best ring of colts ever seen in the Goulburn • Valley district. His dam was Xtady Charlotte, by Royal Charlie, who received the highest awards at Melbourne, Kyneton, Numurkah, and other leading shows, winning in all 26 first SSxd champion prizes. Prophet Champion's g-dam was Tib, by Marquis of Lome ; g-g-dam by Baron, of Glenlee, by Victor (imp.); g-g-g-dam by Young Lothian Tarn; g-g-g-g-dam by Blyth (imp.)., Young Prophet won fijst prize at Numurkah three years in succession, and the next year won first prize at Shepperton and gold medal for the beat horse in the yard. The same year he was first in his class and first in the aged class at Murchistom. His stock have been very successful in the show yard. Pride of the Taieri, as will be seen from the above, is very fashionably bred, being descended from the very best strains of prize-taking blood, and this, quite apart from Bis great size and substance, should recommend him' as a most valuable sire both in the show ring and at the stud. Mr Foot is to be congratulated on his enterprise in securing suoh a high-olass colt.
