SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The monthly meeting of the School Commissioners, held on Tuesday, 15th Angus-, v\vs attended by Messis "W. Dallas (chairman), D. Borne, T. Mac Gibbon, and John Ha}-. Ah apology from the Hon. H. Feldwiclt was received. An application was leocived from Mr J«s. Martin, as agent for Mrs T. Beei, to purchase a road line on section 2 of 102, Taiingatuia. -- Consideration held over. A letter ivas rece : ved from Mr J. Milne, on behalf of Hugh 'Nelson, forwai cling application for coal lease over 4a 3r 3^p en inn 254b, and being section 8, block XXI. Wendon district, for a term of 21 jears. — Recommendation to ba made to warden as requested. A memo, was forwarded from the District Land Registrar, InvercargilJ. and a letter from E. E. Bowler, solicitor, Gore, m reference to the commissioners' title to sections in block I, Wendon. — Consideiation held over. A report was read from Earger Knkpatrick on the matter of A. Matheson's bouuda v y fer.es on section 2 of 16, block I, Maiicgaiiia district. — Secretary to write to the owner 1 of adjoining sections, explaining position. W. Todd wrote forwarding an offer from Mr C. B. Harris for a lease of allotment 19, of section part 23, block I, InvercargiH Hundred, at £40 per annum on certain conditions. — Application declined. Jessie H. S. Shaw, lessee of section 1, block 15, Maungatua district, applied for a ieductkra of rent. — Declined. Application from J. M. Price, lessee of section 39, Eyre district, for a reduction of rent. — Consideration held over Letter from M. Joycs, lessee of section part 2 of 155. block I, Moeraki district, asking for authority to erect a dwelling at a cost of about £25 — Granted. The Banger reported having completed the inspection of all the reserves north of Hampden. and found them in very good order, with some exceptions, on which goise is br-ing allowed to spread, and he recommended that the tenants receive notice to clear gor^e ar.d trim the hedges.— Seport adopted; lessees to hi notified as suggested. The following applications were received for drain tfes— viz. :— From Jas. Keith, less-e of sections 31 and 32, block IV, TTendon district, for supply of drain tiles.— Granted on usual conditions. From J. E. Mills for 800 yds 12in tiles and 350 yds 6in tiles for draining on part section 55, block VII, Jacobs E.ver Hundred.— Consideiatio.i held over From Peter M'Gee, for 1500 4in and 3CO 6ai tiles for section 2 of 105, Taringatu-a.— Granted. From Donald M'Donald, for 2000 3m tiles for section 3 of 105, Taiingatura Grantei. The following applications were received and approved on the usual conditions for consent to transfer leaseholds :— From T. A. Bailey, solicitor, Palmerstou, tiansfer of Wm. Elfipon's interest in lease of section 15, block TU Palmerston, to M. Bennett; from V, r . F. Indo^ solicitor. Gore, transfer of lease of section 9* block XXIII, town of Goie, from W. H. Paterson to O'Neill, and mortgage O'Neill to Paterson; from M. Listen. " transfer of lea<=e of section 2 of 8, block XXXIV, Clutha, to Simon Wright; from Robert Ferguson, transfer of lease of- section 2, block 11. Wyndham district to Alex. Johnston; Thomas Power, transfer of lease of section 20, Wairio disirict from Power and Cream io Sutherland, Moss! ar.d Swaney : from J. Penny, transfer of lease of sections 20 and 21. block V, town of Mataura. from Thomas Sheperd: from Me-srs Mondy, Sim, and Stephens, transfei of allotment 1 of 53, block IV, Mavtngatun, hem H Wisneski to Ellen O'Donnell. A memo, was read from the Commissioner of Crown. Lands, Dunedin stating that n was proposed to acquire part of section 31. block VII. North Harbour and Bhieskin district, for scenic purposes, and asking what value 'the commissioners put upon the section.—Commissioners had no power to sell, but if Government had machinery for acquiring land would accept £20 for section, subject to existing lease. Letter from Michael M'Laughlin, applying for a yearly lease of section 8, block LXX town of Oamaru.— A year's lease to be granted on condition that gorse is cleared and rates and taxes paid. An application was receiver! from John Buttar, lessee of section 25. block IV. "Waikouaiti. for drain tiles to drain between 20 and 30 Granted on usual conditions. a. letter was received from C. Turnbull lessee of section 21, block X, Jacobs Eiver Hundred, in reference to drain tiles.— Agreed to. ( An application was received from Mr E. C. Smith, solicitor, for endorsement of consent to a transfer of lease of section 71 block XVI, town of Gore, from M. A. Henderson to Catherine Hartley. — Granted. The Eanger drew attention to a resolution of Clarendon Drainage Board to raise a loan for the purpose of erecting an embankment at Waipori, alongside of section 2 of 20, block 11, Maungatua district, which he considered would be detrimental to the section in question.— Referred to ra-xiger aad chairman, with power to act. An application was received from Messrs Watson and Haggitt, solicitors, InvercargiH, applying for endorsement of consent to transfer of lease of section 1 of 105, Tarinfatura, from S. Woods and C. F. Coster (executor of the late J. Woods) to W. P. Hishon.— -Granted on usual conditions. Accounts amounting to £68 8s Id were passed for payment.
