CYCLING ROAD RACES

A road race to seflect the Auckland competitors for the Timaru-Christchurch Race was won by E. J. M'Kay. R. Lees, who came second, entered a protest, alleging that the •winner lccte thy wrong road.

For the Tiniaru-to-Christchurch Cycle Eoad Race, to be decided on September 2, 270 competitors have been handicapped. Some of the "Napier and Auckland entries not beiuK to

Randiup (Timaru) smin, and 28 competitors have 50rmn start, which is the greatest handicap allotted. SYDNEY, August 19.

The Batlmrst-Ashfield Road Race, 127£ miles, was won by M'Mahon, actual riding time 7hr 23min, arriving 7min ahead of Allsopp, with Sornmerville third. Arnst, of New Zealand, met with an accident 30 miles from the start, and this spoiled his chances. ■
