GOODWOOD.

Mr and Mrs R. Cameron, who are leaving the Goodwood district to settle at Stoneburn, were entertained at a valedictory social by the residents of Goodwood on Monday, 7th inst. There was a large and representative attendance, including a number of friends from Palmerston, Waikouaiti, and Tumai. Mr A. M'P-regor occupied the chair, and on the platform were Messrs R. Jeffries and E. H. Clark (Mayor of Palmerston). Proceedings commenced with a long and varied programme of songs and recitations, after which Mr Jeffries, on behalf of the residents of the district, presented Mr and Mrs Cameron with a handsome silver tea and coffee service, with tray of oak and silver, suitably inscribed. He also presented Mr Cameion with a gold Maltese cross as a memento of the many friends he ■was leaving behind in Goodwood. Mr Cameron suitably replied, and the hall was then cleared ior dancing, which wa-s kept up until an early hour. It might be mentioned that Mi Cameron took a great interest in all local public affairs. He has represented Goodwood Riding iii the Waihemo County Coxmcil for the past three years, and he was also chairman of the local School Committee and the Goodwood Public Hall Company.
