MILBURN.
August 19. — Exceptionally mild weather lias prevailed during the last two months. There has been no heavy rain, and consequently householders are complaining of a shortage of water. Farm work has progressed without interruption, and several fanners have their grain crops sown. A Serious Loss — Mortality among horses has been rare this winter, but Mr John Soinerville had the misfortune to lose i valuable young draught last week. The animal had just boan broken to the plough, when after working for "an hour one morning it lay down and died almost immediately. Personal. — Mr M. Henderson, outr local storekeeper, returned recently from a sojourn in the North Island. Most of his time was spent at Rotorua, where he underwent treatment for rheumatism. Mr Henderson speaks veiy favourably of the medical attendance fhere, and a.Jso of the reasonable and comfortable lodgings to be obtained.
Church Matters.— Since the departure of the Rev. G. Budd, the services m the Presbyterian Church have been conducted by students from the University. It is intended to hold the anniversary services of the church early next month.
