Sound potatoes are sellinj at £6 10s to £6 15 i per ton, according to quality. White potatoes, in good demand, £7. FARM AND DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs Irvine and Stevenson, George street, report paying for produce during the weekending the 27th inst. as follows :— Bacon (roll), 8d p. lb Fresh butter, Sd to Ham, 9d p. lb lOJd per lb Fresh eggs, 1/4 doz Salt butter ; not buying Fresh butter, good ordinary (in lib and -Ub prints), 6d to Sd perlb. Tlie following cablegram has been received by the Department oi Industries and Commerce from, the High Commissioner, dated London, June 24: — "Mutton: Market quiet; good demand for prime quality mutton; dull sale for heavy carcases Buyers not inclined to make forward purchasss of mutton at present prices. Average piice to-day: Canterbury mutton, 4fd light weights and 4d heavy weights; other North Island mutton, 4d light weights and 35d heavy weights. The lamb market will be affected by the weather, and high prices are restricting business. Average prices to-day : New Zealand lamb (Canterbury brand), 5Jd; New Zealand lamb (brands other than Canterbury), 5Jd. The beef market is weak, the weather lately having been unfavourable for the sale of beef. Average prices: Hindquarters New Zealand beef, 3Jd; forequarters, 2|tl. The butter market is very firm, only small supplies on hand, and stock almost exhausted. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 98s per cwt; Danish, 107s. The cheese marked is firm. Average price finest Ne<w Zealand cheese to-day, 54s pe-r cwt white and 51s per cwt coloured." THE MEAT MARKET.
