"Lex" sends Is 6d for the YoungSootchnian Fond. We have again to state that this fund is closed. The libel action pending between Mr W. S. Maslin, Mayor of Geraldine, and the Hon. J. M. Twomey, M.L.C, was settledf on Saturday. The action arose out of certain allegations that appeared in a leading* article in Mr Twoniey's paper, and Mr Miaslin claimed £1000 damages. Mr Twomey has agreed to publish an apology in the Timaru and Ashburton, as well a» in his own, newspapers, and to- pay all «s» penses incurred by Mr Maslin. The costs, it is said, will amount to about £100.
