EGG-LAY ING CQMPETITION.
BLENHEIM, May 28. The result for the fourth, week of the NewZealand' egg-laying competition shows that the productive capacity- of the 6(W hens engaged* has considerably increased, though 210* have not yet contributed" a single eggThe totals for the - respective weeks are : — 3Tirat week, 159 1 ; second', 255; third 293; fourth, 394-;— grand total, 1101. The White Leghorns of Mr Harry Leger, of Levin, are i leading, with 32 for the iast week and an aggregate of 81. The- White Leghorns of Mr F: Brooks, of South Australia, are second',, with 26 and 76. The Siivey Wyandottes of Mr Barry Greber, Westport, ax& third, with- 17 ttntJ 73; The White Leghorns' of Me Jonpthan Hodson, Blenheim, are- fourth with 19 and 45. There is a- tie for fifth place, the hens being the Silver Wyandottes- of Mr S. S. Chnackenber.gr, of Auckland (16- and *2) and the* White Leghorns o£ Mrs Aldridge, Blenheim (13 and: 42). / Thfr Brown Leghorns of Mr W. Hockey, Nelson, are sixth, with 13 and 38: The fowls are being fed' on plain everyday diet, andP the records- should afford a usefulcomparison' with those at Lincoln College, where a more experimental dietary scale is in use.
