His Excellency the Governor pays a. visit to Otago this week with Sir J. G. Ward as Minister-in-attendance. Lord Plunket will be accompanied by Lady Plunket, the Hon. Kathleen Plunket, Captain Braithwaite, and Mr Waterfield (private secretary). His Excellency will take part in the meeting to be held at the Town Hall on Wednesday to take steps to raise the funds neoessary ten build a new ward in connection with tho Dunedin Hospital. His Excellency and party will reach Lawrence at noon on Thursday, Ist prox., remaining three hoursand a-half. In the evening he will visit Milton and attend an informal oonver-* sazione. On Friday he will arrive at Batclutha at 10.30 a.m., and drive to Kaitangata, where he will visit the mines. On. Saturday he will return to Balclutha, and! if time permits will make a trip to the Catlin's River, leaving Balclutha for Dunedin by the 5.13 p.m. train. The annual technological examinations of ihe London City and Guilds' Institute ar* now being held under the supervision of th» Education Board officials. The subjects o& examination comprise woodwork, oookery, electric light and power, telegraphy and telephony, and mechanical engineering.
