DAIRY CONFERENCE.
The official programme for the annual Dairy Conference, to be held in Palmerslon during winter show week, has now been drawn up. On Tuesday, .Tune 20. both the annual meeting of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand and that of the. New Zealand Institute of Dairy Secretaries will be held. On Wednesday, June 21, the following: papers will be read: —(l) "African and South American Dairying," by Mr J. A. Kinsella, Dairy Ccinmissionet: (2) "A Fornv of Blood Poisoning" in Very Young Calves, and its Assooiation with Pneumonia, etc., in Pigs," by Mr J. A. Gilruth, Chief Government Veterinarian; (3) "Dairy Farm Buildings," by Mr C. J. Reakos, M.R.0.V.5., Assistant Chief Veterinarian. The prize-winners of the Manawatu A. and P. Assooiation dairy farm competition will be announced at the conclusion of this paper. {1) "The Bacteriology of Milk" (with illustrations), by Mr G. E. Owen, M.RC.V.S.; (5) "Ensilage, and How to Make it, with Special Reference to the TJse> of Maise," by Mr W. Mills. Cheltenham. On the Wedn*>isclay evening the annual meeting of th© New Zealand Factory Butter anr Choese Makers' Association will be held. During tho evening the following papers will be read: —(l) "Cold Curiner of Cheese," by Mr J. A. Kinsella: (2) "The Chemistry of Butter and Cheese." by Mr B. C. Acton, chemist to tho Agricultural Department j (3) ''Dairy Inspection and! th© Need of Cleaner Milk," by Mr D. Cuddie, Dairy Instructor; (4) "What Our Cheese Industry Requires," by Mi W. M. Singleton, Dairy Instructor; (5) "The Pasteurisation and Distribution of Skim Milk at Dairy Factories and .Creameries," by Mr N. Fulton; (6) "From the Cow to Calf via the Creamery," by Mr H M Rockell; (7) "Cheese, making." by Mr M. T. West; (8) "The Pasteurisation of Skim Milk in Denmark," by Mr P. C. H. Petersen, of Eltham. The conference will conclude on Thursday, June 22, with the reading of a paper on "How to Keep Bees Successfully," by Mr I. Hopkins, Government Apiarist.
