— The first convert of the Salvationists in America was " Ash Barrel Jimmy." He was Found early one winter's morning in aa ash barrel, quite drunk and half frozen. It was impossible to extricate Jimmy, so the barrel was rolled along the pavement to the Salvation headquarters. Jimmy, who died recently, became one of New York's most successful slum officers.
