TOWN v. COUNTRY.
Entries for Town district forwarded by Mr Davis, from Sandymount: — J. Riddle, J. Christie, M. Davis. Mr Gardiner has received the following entries for the Country team: —G-. Pennp, P. C. Gray, J. Stevenson, and P. M'Kinna, Gore; D. Lamb ,Waikaka; J. Kirkpaitrick, GreenvaJe; J. Allan, Carswell, Neill, Mairsellar, Mackie. Stevenson, Massey, Sinclair, and J. Shore, Taieri; Wm. Robertson, Palmerston. D. Bower (Waiwera) ancX John Christie (Inchclutha) report that they expect strong contingents from their respective districts. Mr Gardiner, in a letter to the Town Committee under date, May 27, says:—"l should! recommend you to get as many players for your side as possible, for in my opinion th& Country team will be a record one so far as members are concerned." Will those receiving entries from Town, representatives please make a special note of this advice, and do their very beat to get all the known draught players interested. More entry forms may be obtained from the Town, secretary upon application.
The Town Committee' — Messrs Langston, Luca.s, and Hilliker — will be glad to receive progress reports from its district representatives by Saturday, June 3. As a reminder we again publish the names of the gentlemen who were appointed, to conserve the interests of the Country team in. their respective districts: — Messrs A. Murdoch (Riversdale), W. J. Marsh (Wyndham), M. Leith (Woodlands), W. Robertson (Palmerfeton), Duncan (Ranfurly), W. M'Kinna, (Gore), J. Shore (Taieri), J. Paterson (Ngapara), T. Ramsay (Hyde), Geo. Clarke (Moonlight), J. Christie (Inchclutha), and D. Bower (Waiwera). Now is the time for these gentlemen to justify their appointment. Mr Gardiner, must, natuially, look to them for active cooperation in working up a team, and they should endeavour to have some report ready, a -week "before the day."
