THE GILBERT *ND SULLIVAN REVIVAL.

A visit of any of Mr J. C. "Williamson's attractions is always welcomed in Dunedin, and the announcement relative to the forthcoming visit of his famous Gilbert and Sullivan Repertoire Opera Company will no doubt be received with more than, pany will no doubt be received with more than. usual gratification. For some considerable time past there has been a pronounced feeling in favour of a revival of the delightful Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Mr Williamson, therefore, recently organised, after a considerable amount of trouble and expense, a company to present these, ■ever-popular musical gems. The company, which has just finished very successful seasons In "Wellington and Auokland, anc| ia at the present time playing to crowded houses in Christchurch, will produce such popular operatic works as " Patience," " The Pirates of Penance," "H.M.S. Pinafore,""lolanthe," "TBe Mikado," and "The Yeo* man of the Guard." The Dunedin season I<3 limited to 14 nights, during which the entire repertoire will ba presented. The combination, it is stated, will include upwards of 10Q members. There will be a splendidly trained! chorus of 70 voioes, and a full and effective orchestra of 20 picked instrumentalists. To enable patrons to make their arrangements well ahead, the management has definitely fixed the programme for the season. Thus

"Patience" will be played on Monday and Tuesday, May 29 and 30, to be succeeded by " The Mikado " on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 31, and June 1 and 2; "The Pirates of Penzance," on Saturday and Monday, June 3 and 5; "lolanthe," on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 6, 7, and 8; The Yeoman of the Guard, on Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10; and " H.M.S. Pinafore," on the last two nights of the season, Monday and Tuesday, June 12 and 13. The box plans for the entire season will be opened at the Dresden Music Warehouse on Thurso»y morning next at 9 o'clock.
