The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Coursing Club opened to-day in fine weather. Mr J. Mitchell, of Oamaru, acted as judge. The following is the result of the first round of the Wairarapa Cup, the first prize in which is £100:— . , Mr J. Essex's Wharerangi beat Gipsy s Warning; Mr T. The finals for the Cup will be run to-morrow. {The following is the draw for the fourth round: — -Fairy Talk meets Clements, Lobelia meets Little Gem, Laburnum meets Fortress. Clements is favourite at 2 to 1. The committee has decided to run the JMaiden Stake on Tuesday, May 30, so as to fellow of more hares being obtained. May 18. The Wairarapa Coursing Club's meeting tras concluded to-day, with the following results : — Wairarapa Cup. Fourth Bound. — Clements beat Fairy Talk, Ciobelia beat Little, Gem, Fortress beat Laburnum. . Fifth Bound. — Lobelia beat Clements, Fortress a bye. " ' Final.— Mr 1 - M. Taylor's Lobelia, by Eory O'More— Shy Eose, beat -Mr F. Biel's Fortress, by Maxim — Clementina, and won the stake.
