THE FORBURY MEETING.
After being the strongest ally the Forbury Park Racing Club has had in the past, the fickle goddess of the weather withdrew her smiles on Saturday, and as a result the club were compelled to abandon the holding of their winter meeting for a week. The track and enclosures became very soft as a result of the heavy rains, and the postponement was the wisest thing to do under the circumstances, although many of the smaller owners who journeyed considerable distances will find the extra expense somewhat heavy, and may forg&fc their engagements. Then, again, unless the club can induce the D.J.C. to delay the publication of the handicaps for their meeting, some of the horses may be struck out because their owners may not wish to incur penalties. However, there should still be sufficient material left to furnish some good sport on Saturday next.
