HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The mo.nthly meeting of the High School Governors, held on Thtvrsday, was by Messrs J. R. Sinclair (chairman), T. K. Sidey, J. M. Gallaway, T. Mackenzie, and the Hon. T. Fergus.

Accoimts amounting to £635 18s lid were passed for payment, and the bank books laid upon the table showed a credit balance of £802 8s lOd.

The Secretary of the Education Department wrote acknowledging the receipt of the board's communication re amendments of free attendance regulations, and stated that the matter would receive attention. — Received.

The Auditor-general returned the balance sheet duly certified to, but took exception to an item for travelling expenses. — Received.

Mr J. Burnside wrote giving estimates of some of the work at the Girls' High School. — It was resolved that the work be done by contract.

Messrs Gill and M 'Donald wrote asking for the approval of the board in connection with an application to the warden for a water race on run 205e, Rock and Pillar. — Consideration deferred.

An application from Mr A. H. A. Strat-ford-Henniker for permission to transfer the lease of section 15, block XV, Oarnaru town, to Mr Joseph Preston was granted on the usual terms.

An application was received from Messrs W. R. Grant and J. K. Brown, lessees of sections at Strath-Taieri, for an extension of lease- — It was agreed to extend the terms of lease at their expiry in October to the end of the following April. The remainder of the business dealt with matteis of detail, or was considered in committees.
