The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 4,105,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,665,000 quarters. Tha Atlantic shipments are 30,000 quarters. • All shares and stocks are unchanged. April 5. Tallow. — At the sales 1571 casks were offered and 769 sold. Mutton : Fine, 295 ; medium, 255. The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £36,771,000, the reserve £28,435,000, and the percentage of reserve to liabilities 51.95. The notes in circulation total £28,760,000 ; public deposits, £12,797,000 ; other deposits, £41,851.000 ; Governments securities, £15,444,000 ; other securities-, £28,572,000. Flour is flat. London quotation, 25s 3d. .Sellers are asking 265. 3d for shipment. Nothing doing in freights. Butter is dull. Danish, 106s ; New Zealand, 104s ; Australian, 100s to 103s. Cheese is firm and unchanged. : Spot, £67 ss ; three months, £67 12s 6d.

The Bradford wool market shows a brisk demand for all merinos and fine crossbreds. Common sixties, 23^d ; super, 24^d.

At the sheepskin sales 4000 bales were offered, whereof 3600 were Australasian. Practically all were sold after fair competition. Merinos and fine crossbreds were a farthing higher, and coarse from par to a farthing lower.

The stock of kauri gum is 795 cases.

H3iexe is small business in hides and leather basils at late rates.

A fair business is being done in rabbits. Victorians and Sydneys, 16s. Trade is excited ■at tbe proposal in New South "Wales to destroy rabbits by means of contagious disease. Buyers state that if such a plan is adopted tho trade will inevitably cease.

The Beard of Trade returns show that the March imports increased by £291,037 and the exports by £3,819,027.
