(a) This move is only justified' by playing P-K 4 after due preparation; otherwise Black gets a cramped game. (b) P-K 3, shutting 1 in the bishop, could bei avoided by B-B 4, but then Black queen's side becomes weak. Black has nothing to fear from 7 Xt-Xt 5, as Q-R 4 eh. would be the answei'. ic) Resulting i& serigus *£»& jrf tjgw. £lsg££
intention must have been to play P-B 4, in response- to 9 B-Kt 3. (D) A very dangerous move, by which White gets his knight to X 5 and obtains the Pillsbiiry position, entirely art the expense of Black's time. If the latter had played P-B 3, there follows 10 Kt-KR 4. P-KJit 3; 11 B-Kt 3, P-B 4; 12 Kt-B 3, etc. (b) White is certainly better off now than he would have been if Black had played P-B 3. Everything is favourable for a king's side attack.
(f) Tho futile movements of this knight a3 well as Black's subsequent demonstration on the qiieen's side facilitate the success of White's attack.
