SHOOTING COMPETITION.

A TRIANGULAR MATCH. A very enjoyable rifle match -was fired at Palmerston on Anniversary Day, when teams from the Duneclin Engineers and. the North. Dunedin Rifles journeyed to meet the local corp3. Excellent arrangements had been made by the Palmerston men to cater for the enjoyment of the visiting teams. The weather, although somewhat windy, was fine, and the shooting was up to the average. The Thinning team was entertained at dinner after the match, the Engineers being the guests of Major Barclay. The conditions of the match were: Ten shots and one optional sighter at 200 and 500 yards ; 12 men a-side ; two lowest scores counted out. A branch ot the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union was recently formed in Roxburgh and it has now a membership of 26. Branches of the union are to be formed at Coal Creek and Miller's Flat.
