The artist placed him in s a chair, clamped the back of his head into r a V-shaped vice, peered through the instru3 ment, and then, coming forth from under s his blade cloth, said : "By the \va.y, would you like a drink 9 "' ]| "Well, I don't mind," said the man, with '. a pleased smile. "What have you got?" " Beer, whisky, and wine," said the . photographer. '"Thanks very much; I'll have " But just then the other- motioned him to be silent, inserted a plate holder, and took th 3 picture. After the operation was all over, the j photographer handed the customer his hat r and started to escort him io the door. r " But what about that iittle invitation ?" - " Oh," said the photographer, smiling. . "that is ju=t a trade ruse of mine to give an . interested and 1 pleased expression to the r face." j
