The following games were played in the New York v. Massachusetts *match between A. J. Heffner, Boston, and H. Reynolds: — Game 5916. — "Second Double Corner."

(a) 16 20 is the usual move. (b) Asked why he did not try 31 26, Mr Heffner replied that it would win against every move except 69 ; this, however, would not give White a good ending. Game 5917. — "Second Double Corner."
