SOUTH ISLAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING.

CHRIST.CHURCH, February 24. ■The first annual meeting of the South Island Rifle. Association was commenced today at the Redeirfite rifle range, Christ- ' church, 134 competitors taking part. Owing to three distances being taken at once it is uncertain as to who will comprise the winners in each match until the second "day's shooting is in progress. No. 1 Match, j>ev-en shots at 200, 5K', and 600 yards, was won by Private Whitley. of Kaiapoi. No. 2, seven shots at 500 and 600 yards, is Wactically secured by Colour-sergeant Monterieff, of Ohristchureh, with 63. No. 3' Slatch seven shots at 600 and 700 yards, i*ras won by Rifleman C.
