Although the day was rough, there was a large attendance of farmers and others interested" from the surrounding districts, and they hid with spirifi for everything offered, with the consequence that a very satisfactory sale resulted. Seventyone head of 18-months to two-year-old steers and heifers brought £3 16s; dairy cows, £7 15s. The horses, although not young, were nevertheless active sorts, and one nine-year-olct mare realised £35, a six-year-old gelding £Z3, while aged horses brought £li 10s. The implements, harness, etc., had their share of attention, and realised splendid prices. Tbe same firm also reports having held a clearing sale on account of Mr John Sinclair, Gienomarn, on Saturday, 10th inst. There was a large attendance, and a very satisfactory sale resulted. Dairy <* cows, although very low in. condition, realised as high as JES 10s. calves £1 19s, and yearling heifers £3; while sundries and furniture brought full market rates. • The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, of New Zealand (Limited) report:—"We held our usual fortnightly sale at our yards, Owaka,on Friday, the 9th inst. There was a good attendance of local farmers and others from, the Clutiia, Warepa, and Clinton, and a good muster of cattle. We yarded 70 head cows, steers, heifers, and young cattle—the former realising from £6 to £7 17s 6S, heifers £a to £6 2s 6d, steers £i 10s to £5 17s 6d, yearlings (mixed sexes) £2 to £3 15s. R&bbitskins.—The offerings at auction are still large, although the mild winter has had its effect on the skins, and very few are coming to hand now better than medium to good winters. All the buyers were present at the sales on Monday, and the sale was one of the briskest of the season. Although prime winters cannot be quoted any higher, medium quality skins showed a slight advance. Quotations: Best winter, 16Jd to 17Jd; medium to good, 14Sd to 16id-; autumn, 12d to 14d; summer, 6id to BJd; small, 3d to 5Sd; winter black and silver grey, 20d to 24d; mixed do, 15d to 18d per lb. Sheepskins.—All the local buyers were represented at Tuesday's sales, when fairly large catalogues were submitted. The demand for all descriptions was very strong, several lots suitable for shipment realising very high, prices. Quotations: Best merino, 6£d to 6Jd ; medium to good, 5d to 6d; best halfbred, 65d" to 7d; medium, to good, 5d fo 6d; best crossbred, 6Jd to 7d; medium to good, 4Jd to 6d per lb; butchers' green crossbreds, 4s 6d to 6s 6d; do halfbreds, 5s to 6s 8d each. Hides.—There was an «xcellerit demand for all classes of hides at the sales held on Thursday last. Fairly large catalogues were submitted to a full attendance of the trade, and prices all round showed a slight advane'e on those lately ruling. Quotations: Extra stout ox, 5d to s|d; good heavy ox; 4&d to 4Jd; medium, 4d to 4|d; best cows', 4-Jd to 4Jd; good medium weight do, 3ld to 4Jd; light, 4id! to 4Jd; inferior, SSd to 3Jd; stag and bulls', 2Jd to 3§d per lb; yearlings, 5s to 7s 3d; calfskins, 2s 6d to 3s; horse hides, 7s 6d to 10s each. Grain.—Oats—The market has been quiet dturing the past "week, with a very limited inquiry for good export lines. Stocks on hand are not large at this season of the year, and anything .like steady export business would readily absorb the bulk of the prime " A " and " B"■ oats on offer locally. For medium quality there is not much inquiry. Quotations: Prime 3nilling, Is 7d to Is 8d per bushel (sacks extra); good to best feed, Is 5d to Is 6d; inferior to medium, Is Id to Is 4d. Wheat.—No sales of any importance have been passing, buyers of all sorts preferring to keep out of the market. Late reports from London, indicating that values are hkely to remain firm, have had a> steadying effect on the market, and buyers aie more dispossd to operate, though no sales of any importance can be reported. Prime, milling is the only quality in favour with, millers, medium sorts being scarcely saleable except as fowl wheat. For the latter there is better deinsuidi at quotations, which a*e: — Prime milling, 3s 7d to 3s 9d per bushel (sacks extra); medium, 3s 4d to 3s 6d; best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3d; medium and broken, 2s lOd to 3s Id. Barky.—The market remains quiet at late quotations. r Potatoes.—'Steady supplies of all sorts have been coming forward. Best Derwents are m moderate demand, and continue to move of£ at quotations. Quotations: Best Derwents, £1 15s to £2 per ton (sacks in); other sorts, £1 10s to £1 15s; seed lines, £2 to £3. Chaff.—Small supplies of prime quality have come forward, and these are readily taken on arrival. For all such tihere is a good demand, which will doubtless be filled shortly now that better weather prevails. Medium and inferior sorts are not readily emitted.
