Notes from Reef ton. (From Our Own Corespondent.)

The Consolidated Goldfieids of JCew Zealand (Limited) report the following returns for the month of May, 1904 : — G-old»n Fleece . 1100 tens of stone were crushed at the 20-stainp mill for a return of 501oz Sdwt 12gr of bullion, valued at £2034 2s 4d; 13 tons of concentrate* were produced, and 783 ton=< of coarse sane? cyanided. the latter yielding bullion valued at £284 12s 2d. Progress Mines of A T ew Zealand : 5316 tons of stone were mined and transported by aerial tramway to the 65-stamp mill and crushed, producing 18770z 16dwt 12gr of bullion, valued at JE7727 Is 2d ; 95 tons of concentrates were, chlorinated, yielding bullion valued at £891 Os 3d; 3725 tons of tailings wera cyanided, yielding bullion valued at c£736 7s 6cJ. Wealth of Nations : During the month 1035 tons of quartz were crushed, yielding 3260z Sdwt of bullion, valued at £1346 Ss ; 71 tons of concentrates were produced, and 710 tons of coarse sands cyanided, the latter yielding gold to tha value of £1346 Bs. At the Energetic mine No. 7 level north drive has been extended 30ft, the south drive 81ft, and No. 4 rise put up 32ft, Two hundred and forty-six tons of stone have been sent through to be crushed at the Wealth of Nations mill.

The Alpine Company s mine manager reports: — During the week we have staited a stope from the rise in Xo. 12 north reef. The stone averages 4ft in thickness in the stopea above the intermediate. South of No. 12 th« reef is about the &ame as in Xo. 7. The cros-s^ cut has been extended 33ft for the week ; total distance 64ft. The crosscut is goaig tnrougfc hard, dark slate.
