WINTER SHOW GUESSING COMPETITION.
The bullock and sheep that were the subjects of the guessing competitions at the recent winter show, having been killed and dressed, were weighed at the freezing works at B\u-nside on Wednesday morning by the pi-esident and secretary of tho A. and P. Association. The bullock was found to weigh 150721b. Mrs R. S. Charters, of Patearoa, Mrs J. Henderson, of Stirling, and Mrs Win. Turnbull, of Maitland street, Dunedin, each guessed 15091b, and Mrs David Matson, of Christchurch, guessed 150611b, the four thus being equal. The members of the committee present placed these four names in a hat, and Mrs Matson was declared the "winner of the Singer sewing machine. The guesses ranged from 714-lb to 2264-lb. The open guessing competition with the same bullock for a subject produced guesses ranging up to 30241b. Mr J. Kirkland, of East Taieri, and Mr X Wright, of Balelutha, each guessed 15091b, and, being the nearest, divided the first and second prizes of £3 and £1 10?. The next nearest gueeses were those of Mr A. Ironsides, of Oamaru (1509^1b), and Mr J. Crisp, of Leith street, Dunedin (15061b). The five dressed sheep were found to weigh 793|1b. Miss Hilda Hazlett (High street, Dunedin), Mr W. G. Douglas (of Dunedin). Mr James M'Leod (of Gimmorburn), and Mr R. M 'Donald (of Kokoamo, Oamaru) each guessed 7931b, and divided first and second prizes of £3 and £1 10 p. The guesses in this competition ranged from 3501b to 10001b.
