PIRATES SECOND (INVERCARGILL) v. ALHAMBRA SECOND.

The fifth anaual match between thePirates Second (Invercargill) and Alhambra Second was played on C&risbrook on Saturday afternoon, and after a bard-fought game the visitor? were victorious by 6 poinis (two trios) to nil. The tries for the Pirates were scored by Mentiplay and Fraser, the kicks at goal, which -were entrusted to Blackham, being reeultle&s. The Alhambra forwards had a little the beat of the game in the first spell, but the Pirates had the upper hand in the second half, in which they opened cut better than in the first. Marsden and Lowrie were the best of the Alhambra backs, and of the local forwards the pick were Moir, Johnston, and Mitchell. Reynolds played the best back game for the visitors, and he was ably assisted by Ferguson, who also played very v. ell. ,The best forwards amongst the Piratcb were Mentiplay, Organ, and Fraser. Mr W. Wilkinson gave general satisfaction as referee. Of the five matches played between the -two teams two have been won by each, and the other was drawn.
