ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET,

At Addirjgton yards to-day there were large ci-tri"?s of stock, comprising 611 cattle, C2,58t sheep and lamb 3, and i 79 pigs. The attendS/iice was nruch smaller than that of the previous week owing to many dealers and farmers being at the Levels sale, and business generally was less brisk than at recent markets.

Fat Sheep. — The yarding of fat sheep was moderate in both number and quality, and demand for all descriptions wps quiet, but values showed little change from these of the previous week with the exception that towaids tha close of the pale ordinary ewes declined consideiably. Prims heavy wethers sold up to 21s Id; prime fieez^is, 18s to 20s;' lighter wethers from 16s : bast ewes, 16s 6d to 18s Id ; others, 12s 6d to los.

Fat Cattle.— The entry consisted of 200 head, which included a good proportion of prime steer beef. Theie v^?.s good competition, and recent rates were maintained. Sixteen steers from Mr T. O. Hay (Pigeon Bay) sold at £10 to £11 15s, and S tiom Mr A. Birdhng (Halswell) at £10 to £12 17s 6d, three heifers from the latter grszier fetching £7 15s to £8 7s 6d. For other consignors, steers sold at £6 5s to £11 ss ; heifers, £5 15s to £7 15s ; cows, £5 to £8 73 6d. Per 1001b the rates were — for medium to good beef. 20s to 24s 6d; prinie heavy steers, 25s 6d.

Fat Calves. — A fair entry sold at 6s to 555.

Pigs. — There was a good entry, and an excellent demand, particularly for stores, which were dearer than last week, fat pigs being firm. Baconers sold at 50s to 52s 6d; porkers, 30s to 40s ; stores, 20s to 375 ; weaners. 10s to los. Per lb bacoiiers sold at 4^d, and poikers at 4Ad to 4|d.
