FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Messrs Tho3. Paterson and Co., auctioneers, frvut and produce agents, report for the week ending February 9: — Fruit. — Our market has been fairly well supplied with apricots and plums from the Teviot, and pirices maintained for choice fruit. Tomatoes are in rather under supply, and iiave kept their prices well during the week. We quote as follows: — Apricots, from 6s to 8s 6d per case; plums, Id to 2Jd per lb, 3s to 6s per case (choice dessert 'wa.nted). Peaches are in short supply — any coming forward should realise 2Jd Apples — cooking. 2s 6d to 3s 6d per case; dessert, 4s to 6s. — Pears — Melbourne Bon Cretien, 10s to 14s. Local pears range from Is to 6s per case. Tomatoes — Christchurch hothouse, 4Jd to s|d ; outside grown, 3d to 4d ; Nelson, 4s 6d to 7s per case Grapes — local hotSbouse-, lOd to Is per lb. Oranges— Californian, 15s to 18s; Italian, 18s to 20s; lialf cases, 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; lemons, 22s 6d to 255. Bananas, nose offering (we have a few Melbourne landing thds week). Potatoes are weak — best realise £2 to £2 10s; green peas, Id to lid per lb ; cabbages, Is 6d to 2s per sack ; cucumbers, 4s to 6s per doz for hothouse, northern grown, 3s to 4s per case; onaons, £5 10s to JE6. Butter— fresh dairy, 5d to 6d ; ealt has no inquiry ; separator, Bd. Epgs are not plentiful. Cheese — farmers', 5d to s h& ; factory, 6d -to 6Ad. Bacon, rolls, 8d to 8~Jd ; hams, 7£d to B|d ; pigs, 4Jd to 4£d for good baconers. Poultry : In good demand — roosters, 3s 6d to 4s; hens, 2s 3d to 2s 9d; ducks, 4s to 4s 6d. We receive consignments any day, and sell daily.
We hold daily sales of fruit and produce, and have full attendance of the tradp at our sales. Consignments solicited.
