The name of Toinirangi has hsen claimed for the Mahaki-Waiau filly, wb.ch raced successfully at Fo::ton as Targiwai.
Manawatu and Te v'hoe'.ga have been sent north for the Gisborne and Po\ erty Baj meetings. Ihe Hotchkiss— Sunnmgda.e fil'y i? r maiden, and should be useful m soaie of the short distance scurry races, at the rneeiui'gs mentioned.
Pokeka is recovering from thp injuries she received through being galloped on r.t the Hutt, and vil' be taken to the Egmont meeting m compnny with Coxswr.tm. Faku was jumped £>t the Hutt this morning, and shaped well. Loch T'py (Lakeshell— Pomtseltia) is m work at the Hutt.
The Wellington Racing Club has at present under consideration a somewhat extensive scheme, which mclude3 a pnvrte lrihvav from the Hutt 1o the eoiuse, the purchase of some property at the back of the comse known as Eghntoj's paddocks, through winch the od steeplechase course used to run, and the shift ing of the saddling paddock and grand stand to the opposite side of the cou~.se to wh eh it is now on. The owner of ihe property has been appiop.ched, also the Minister of Railv.ays. A committee appomtad by the stewards will visit, the course to-morrow. Should the scheme be decided upon, it will mean that bookmakers will be debarred at the Hutt ; also that people will be carried light on to the rotvrse at a less rate than they now pay. At present the club only receives one shilling per head from persons carried by lail, the Government and the Hutt Park Railway Company receiving Is 9d each.
Back Squall has not been or the tracks since the Pahi atua meeting.
J. Lows has Vallance, Solution, Ringlet, and Matuku going. C. Pritchard is taking Levaat and Delight to the Taranaki meeting.
