THE PARIS DISASTER
Paris, August 14., French engineers condemn the wooden sleepers and other inflammable material in the Paris underground railway. At the funeral of the victims M, Combes, in a speech, said the desire foi lucre sometimes jeopardised human life. He deprecated the lack of elementary precautions in this instance, and hoped the lesson would bear fruit.
