The usual meeting of the Otago Land Board «ras held on Wednesday, when there were present the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr D. Barron), Commissioners Clark, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick. Joseph White jun.'s application under " The Mining Districts Land OccupatioiuAct, 1894," for an area of 100 acres, uart of section 4, block VII, HighUy district, Horse Flat Mining Re•erve, was referred to the committee, which has dow a grazing license over the Mining Reserve. Dalziell and Haggitt wrote m regard to Ah Yen's application fonan occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land OeciUMition Act, 1894," over sections 26 to 29 ancr32, block XXXIII, Town of Havelock.— Referred to the warden to ascertain if there is any mining objection to the sale of this and other land in that part of the township of Havelock. Ranger Atkinson reported on section 2, block VI, Naseby district, recently held by Mrs M. M'Carthy.— Resolved that section be . again offered at a capital value of 12s 6d per acre. Memo, from the Under-secretary for Lands intimating that surrender of small grazing run lease No. 321, held by Charles Freeman over sections 2, block VII, and 3. block VIII, Nenthorn district, has been approved was received. Ranger Atkinson's reports on the following sections in block I, Blackstone district were received: — Section 265, formerly held by E. Jopson; section 266, formerly held by E. C. Jopson; section 267, formerly held by N. T. Jopson. Ranger Atkinson's report on section 5, block I, Rock and PiPaT district, was he.d over. A. H. A. Stratford Henruker forwarded an application by Js-mes Kennedy for tin oc<upation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1891." over section 105. Wock IX. Maruwenua district, which was declined. District Sivveyor Wilmot forwarded a sketch Rowing -cosition of houses and fences on the Mining Reserve, section 7, block VI, Lauder district.— Re solved that grazing licenses be granted to J. Mellor for 41 acres and J. Hamilton 37 acres over that portion of the Mining Reserve; rent, 6s per acre. M M'Lean forwarded reports on the application by Mrs M. Long for sections 108, 109, and 116, block I. Tuaorvka East district; also on the application by R M'Millan to nurclxase sections 10 and 110, block I, Tuapeka East district; and also on the application by Timothy Kelleher for sections 9 and 117. block I, Tuapeka East district.— Each application w»s referred to the warden to ascertain if there was any objection to the sale of these sections, *nd if the warden is favourable, the land to be dealt with under clause 240 of the Land Act. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that the following lessees whose holdings were declared forfeited have now paid all arrears of rent:— L.l.P. 566. Cornelius Craig; L.I.P. 4s V.H.. Application to transfer by way of sub-lease — O.R.P. 198, section* 23 and 24, bkek VII, Woodland district ; Walter E. Pobts to William Fox; term of sub-lease, five years from Ist July prox. — was agTeed to. Application for new license over allotment 26a, Elderslie— Robert Simpson (Fleming and Hedley, agents) — was granted on former terms, the old license having elapsed, to date from January 1, 1903. . Application to purchase land held under perpetual lease— P.L. 57, section 18, block X, Strath-Taieri district; executor of will of Wm. Hay (deceased) — w%s granted. Application to transfer interest in sma-11 grazing run— S.G.R. 45, section 2a, bock 111, Sutton ; William A. Scott to James Alexander Roberts (Murray, Roberts, and Co., agents) — was granted. Application to transfer miscellaneous license — M.L. 742, section 19, block VI, Rock and Pillar diotrict; J. Hincs to Thomas Tate— was approved. Letter from John M'Lew in regard to rent duo by him on small grazing lun No. 345, Makareao Estate, was received.

Ranger O'Neill reported on the applications , by James Jacob 3, Mark M'Crossan, and Mrs C. Franklin for occupation leases under " Tne ' Mining Districts Land Occupation Aot, 1894," over portions of mining reserve in block XX, Tuapeka East district.— The ranger's report was adopted. Occupation lease granted to C. Franklin for an area of about 33 acres ; balance of 45 acres to be granted to Mr M'Cross-an, subject to report from warden being favourable tin both cases. Application from J. Jacobs declined. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application . by David Stewart for a license to cut flax on | sections 7, 10, 1 and 2 of 12, 13. bock I Kn.i1 t&ngata district.— Ranger's report adopted. Right to cut flax over this area to be granted a!, the rate of Is 9d per ton; conditions as ; suggested to be arranged. i Robert Melrose's application for a license to ' occupy sections 5. 6, 11, and 12, block XIV, town of Waipahi, was referred to the Educa- , tion Board to ascertain if area is required for i school purpo9os. A letter was received from J. J. Rimsay, on behalf of D. Teviotda'e, in Tegard to portion of the fencing on the mining reserve, block VII, Rock and Pillar district. — Resolved that the matter .of the fencing on grazing license granted to W. Currie over section 37, 40, and part 38 be referred to Ranger O'Neill.
