THE THAMES MINES
THAMES, June 24
Owing to inability to rtU3e the necessary capital locally, the May Qupen, one of- the principal mires in the Ihame3 district, to-day stopped its contracts. The mine will probably be closed down, pending an endeavour to float a new company at Home. A flotation option ■will be given. Arrangements are practically competed for an extension of the mam Mouna-ta-.ri tunnel— a most important prospecting work — for a distance of 5000 ft. The object is to intersect several rich and important reefs ov?r GOOft below the present lowest workings. £10,000 are being raised for the work.
